Orlando City U-13 Pro Academy Team Wins FYSA State Cup

Youth State Cup

ORLANDO – May 19, 2015 – The Orlando City SC U-13 Pro Academy team continued its success on the pitch this year, winning the prestigious Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) State Cup this past weekend after defeating local club Florida Rush 3-0 in the finals.

As a result, the young Lions will represent the State of Florida in the Southern Regionals, beginning on June 18th. In addition, the Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) team advanced deep into the FYSA State Cup, falling to West Florida Flames in penalties in the semi-final.

Leading up to the championship match, the U-13s were in fine attacking form as they displayed the Orlando City style of play, scoring 32 goals while only conceding two finishes in seven games - including a 5-1 rout over FC America in the semi-final match.

"Winning this prestigious event is a great reward for the hard work and dedication these young men have to the game and to the Club," said head coach Greg Brick. "We're thrilled that they have achieved such a tremendous accomplishment and look forward to getting back to work with them in the Southern Regionals in June."

The 2014-15 season has been a tremendous campaign for the U-13s. Earlier this month, the U-13s won the Florida Premier League title after going undefeated in all of their league matches, dating back to August 2014.
