Weston Champs

While numerous Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) teams were participating in the Disney President’s Day Tournament, several additional OCYS squads also featured in the highly prestigious Weston Cup and Showcase this past weekend.

Offering four levels of competition, the Weston Showcase included roughly 600 teams – providing a strong test for the OCYS’ teams.

The U-16 and U-17 Purple teams were in action on the boys side. The 16s won one and lost two, while the 17s produced a win, tie and a loss. In addition, the U-17 Purple 2 boys team lost two games and tied one.

On the girls side, the U-14 Purple team advanced all the way to the championship match, falling 3-2 to Weston in the top group. The U-13 girls purple team went unbeaten in group play, producing a 3-0 victory and drawing two matches 0-0 – finishing second in their group.

The U11 Girls White 1 team went 1-1-1 in group play – resulting in a second place berth.

“Our players put in a tremendous effort throughout the weekend, so overall we’re very pleased,” said OCYS Boys Academy Director Paul Shaw. “Having our teams in such a competitive tournament was very beneficial for our players’ development”
