Foundation Concludes Inagural Fall League

Foundation Fall Champs

Last week, The Orlando City Foundation wrapped up their inaugural Middle School Girls Soccer League. The league included eight local middle schools, over 120 participants, and weekly 6v6 games and practices. After two months of hard work and commitment, Memorial defeated Lake Nona Middle School 1-0 for the championship. Memorial started the year slightly behind the ball with consecutive losses, yet showed the most growth and development as a team. On the field, players adapted their formations from two straight lines of defense and no forwards to a clear and organized recognition of roles and responsibilities.

Coach Aaron Miller said “The change from start to finish was like night and day. The girls worked hard all season and to win the finals was a special moment for everyone.”

Memorial players immediately shaking hands and congratulating Lake Nona after the game showed a tangible improvement in sportsmanship and teamwork. Their success has prompted Memorial to revitalize its School Soccer team, which begins the first week of school next August. The girls will be keeping an eye on the calendar for the Foundation’s summer clinics to hone their skills before next season!
