On Friday, June 13, Orlando City SC players Luke Boden and Miguel Gallardo helped kickoff Camp Isleworth’s signature summer camps. The soccer-themed camp celebrated all things soccer, such as the newly named Major League Soccer team Orlando City SC and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Luke and Miguel engaged the campers with an enlightening talk about what it’s like to be a professional soccer player, the Orlando City SC organization, the World Cup, and other soccer-related topics. Later on, the pro players signed autographs and took pictures with the young campers.

“We had so much fun talking with the kids at Camp Isleworth,” said Orlando City SC Goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo. “It’s great to see the kids so engaged with sports, particularly soccer. It was also an honor to be able to represent the Club and extend our mission of health and community with them.”

The first day of camp was packed with lots of exciting events which included an Orlando City pep rally with the campers and camp staff. Following the day’s events, the campers presented Luke and Miguel with a banner that they created, in order to commemorate the time the pair spent with them.

“We are grateful that Orlando City SC took the time out to come and visit Camp Isleworth,” said Director of Youth Services for Camp Isleworth Cindy Wright. “The children had so much fun and we know that our campers will never forget such an experience.”
