With only four games under his belt in MLS, Orlando City’s newest Designated Player, Yoshi Yotun, has started to find his rhythm with the Lions. In his game against D.C. United, Yotun showed off his passing vision, dribbling ability and comfort on the ball, helping Orlando to a 2-1 win.
He finished the game third best in passing accuracy on the team, including the most passes by a Lions player in the game. He had the second most key passes that created scoring chances, drew the most fouls out of anyone on either team, and had the most crosses into the box.
“I feel he’s been good in every game,” Head Coach Jason Kreis said of his midfielder, “I feel that he’s had moments where he’s shown complete and utter brilliance. And then there’s been moments where he’s struggled a little bit, and I feel like he’s gotten better in every match, and certainly this past weekend was his best one. So, I still think that there’s a little bit more than he has in his locker that he hasn’t shown yet, and I think we’ll continue to see those things as we go through the rest of the season.”
With a big game coming up against Atlanta United, Yotun will have another chance to shine for the Lions. Having not played in the previous two games, the Peruvian midfielder is set for his first meeting with the five stripes.
“Yeah, it’s gonna be a tough match. The other guys have told me that it’s a direct rival, so those games, we have to win them. Details are very important against them, and it’s the rival that we have the closest in the table, so we have to be very focused to get the three points.
