Here are five storylines to watch for Saturday's match in Montréal:
Montréal Mastery
Orlando City SC has found consistent success against CF Montréal, remaining unbeaten in the series across seven matches dating to 2023. The run includes a 2-1 victory on March 14 that marked the first win of Martín Perelman’s interim tenure against Montréal. Goals from Duncan McGuire and Martín Ojeda secured the result and helped extend a stretch of dominance that has continued to define the matchup.
History Made
Orlando City SC staged a historic comeback, rallying from a three-goal deficit to defeat Inter Miami CF 4-3. The Lions became just the fourth team in MLS history, and the first since 2018, to erase a 3-0 deficit, joining the New York/New Jersey MetroStars in 1996, Seattle Sounders in 2017 and LA Galaxy in 2018.Martín Ojeda’s strike in the 39th minute provided a critical lifeline before halftime and sparked the rally. Orlando carried that momentum into the second half, seizing control and sustaining attacking pressure. The deficit was fully erased when Tyrese Spicer scored the winner in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, latching onto a long ball played behind the Miami back line to seal a landmark derby victory.
Ojeda On Fire
Martín Ojeda recorded a historic hat trick for Orlando City in Saturday’s match against Inter Miami CF, further cementing his place in club history. He became the third player in club history to reach 40 career goals in all competitions and the first to record both 40 goals and 40 assists. Ojeda opened the scoring in the 39th minute off a Justin Ellis assist to give Orlando a vital lift before halftime. He added his second after Adrián Marín drove into the box and set him up for a composed finish. Ojeda completed the hat trick from the penalty spot in the 79th minute, leveling the match at 3-3 and marking his fifth, sixth and seventh goals across all competitions this season. The performance marked his second hat trick in consecutive seasons, the only two hat tricks in Orlando City history since the club’s inaugural MLS campaign in 2015. His first came May 10, 2025, on the road against the New England Revolution.
Ellis Keeps Shining
Justin Ellis continued his breakout stretch for Orlando City SC, becoming the first homegrown player in club history to record a goal contribution in three consecutive regular-season matches. He now has two goals and three assists in his last four appearances across all competitions. Ellis assisted Martín Ojeda’s opening goal in Saturday’s match against Inter Miami CF in the 39th minute. The sequence began with captain Robin Jansson intercepting a pass and heading it forward into Ellis’ path. Ellis quickly released Ojeda to the right, where the winger beat his defender and finished with a composed left-footed strike, a sequence that highlighted the 18-year-old’s growing influence in the Lions’ attack.
Spicer Strikes Back
Tyrese Spicer completed the Lions’ comeback in their win over Inter Miami CF, scoring the game-winner in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to earn his third goal across all competitions and his second in MLS play this season. The play developed when Braian Ojeda slipped a weighted ball behind the Miami back line, allowing Spicer to outrun the defense before calmly finishing past goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair. The goal capped a composed stoppage-time sequence and sealed Orlando’s comeback victory.
