This Week in Orlando City History | April 13th-19th

April 17, 2016 - Orlando City and New England played a thrilling 2-2 draw in front of over 36,000 fans at Camping World Stadium. Kevin Molino looked to have won it for the Lions in the 92nd minute (in what was his 100th appearance for Orlando between MLS and USL), only for Lee Nguyen to steal a point for the Revolution in the game’s dying moments. Kaká opened the game with a bang, scoring a penalty in the second minute.

April 15, 2017 - Orlando City defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy in dramatic fashion, as Cyle Larin’s 91st-minute winner canceled out Romain Alessandrini’s 83rd-minute equalizer to lift the Lions to a 2-1 win. The victory marked the fourth straight victory for City at the new Exploria Stadium. Will Johnson scored his first goal in an Orlando City shirt in the ninth minute to give Orlando the lead.

April 13, 2018 - Dom Dwyer and Chris Mueller both found the scoresheet as Orlando went to Philadelphia and knocked off the Union 2-0 at Subaru Park. Both Dwyer and Mueller had scored the previous week in City’s heart-stopping 3-2 comeback victory over Portland Timbers. The game also marked the first clean sheet of the season for the Lions.

Notable Moments

Will Johnson’s first Orlando goal against the Galaxy in 2017 was an MLS Goal of the Week nominee, as was Cyle Larin’s winner.
