USWNT Stars Grace The Citrus Bowl; Look Forward To Matchup vs. Brazil

USWNT Visit

United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) stars Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux got a little taste of the passion, excitement and energy brewing at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on gameday this past weekend.

Morgan, who is married to City midfielder Servando Carrasco, and Leroux, who is married to Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer, stood the on the pitch and in the Owner’s Suite to take the experience in and cheer their husbands on. City and Sporting played each other for the first time in both the clubs’ histories.

When speaking to OrlandoCitySC.com, USWNT star Alex Morgan voiced that very excitement.

“We see how many fans the Club brings in, and the fact that this community is coming together to support this team. I think it is going to translate well when the national team comes here. It is a great stadium to play in, and I’m very excited. Hopefully we will see a lot of Orlando City Women’s National Team fans come out and enjoy the game.”

After winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup this past summer, the USWNT will play host to Brazil on Sunday, Oct. 25 as a part of the USWNT Victory Tour in the City Beautiful.

This isn’t the first time that the USWNT has played Brazil at the Citrus Bowl, either. In 2013, The United States defeated the yellow and green team 4-1 in front of a then record crowd of 20,274.

Leroux is also thrilled about the opportunity of playing Brazil at the Orlando Citrus Bowl again. “I think it’s really cool!” chuckled Leroux. “The last time we came here we played Brazil and we came out with a win. Obviously we are hoping the same result. This is an amazing soccer city and we hope it translates to the national team.”

It will be a spectacular environment for the team, who will get to play in front of a raucous Orlando fan base. The outpouring of support for soccer in Central Florida has been immense, and will be serve as a great foundation for the Women’s National Team Victory Tour.
