Opening Statement

“Obviously, disappointed with the result. Felt the players worked extremely hard. I thought we started really well. We’re just in this moment right now together and we need to help each other get out of this moment to go and win games. I can't fault the players’ efforts. We’re going to continue to work hard, we’re going to continue to strive to turn it around, and we won’t give up.”

On managing the absence of forward Barbra Banda

“We’re obviously experimenting with it. When you lose a player with that sort of quality, like Barbra [Banda], it is difficult to replace. I thought Simone Charley did extremely well tonight. Coming on at halftime is always difficult but I thought she put herself in some really good positions and held up the ball. We can build off what she contributed today. Every team causes different problems, so we have to assess it and look at what qualities we have within our group. Today, we could've probably created a little bit more opportunities to score, put [Ann-Katrin] Berger under a bit more pressure. It is experimenting with the players that we have available. They all bring different qualities. So, they have to continue to have confidence in themselves and I think once that ball hits the back of the net, they'll have a lot of confidence going into multiple games after that.”

On the positives from tonight’s match

Yeah, like I said, I think one of the positives was Simone Charley getting significant minutes at the number nine position. I thought, again, the backline did really well, midfield did really well. You know, there were a few transition moments for Gotham which, again, resulted in them progressing the ball up the field. I think for myself, you know, I’ll reassess it and hold myself accountable in those moments where I can structure the team to be better and more organized. I think there was a little bit more disjointment than what we’ve shown in previous games. So, I’ll hold my hands up for that and I’ll take full responsibility to make sure that we’re more together with our defensive shape and our press.”

Opening Statement

“It’s really unfortunate, the result, but I think there are a lot of lessons we can take from this and bring them into next week with a positive mindset. We just got to start getting wins and scoring goals.”

On the result

Like I said, it’s just really unfortunate. We don't want to lose. That's not what we come here to do. We come here to win. At the end of the day, we got to get results and that's what we need to bring into next week.”

On the next match against L.D. Alajuelense

“It’s going to be a great matchup. We’re expecting really great competition. Like you said, it's our very first time [in the Concacaf W Champions Cup] so we’re just trying to come into it ready to go, open-minded, and ready to adjust if we need to adjust. Just with a really positive, ready to go, intense mindset.”
