The Heineken Man of the Match Spotlight: Júnior Urso

The Orlando City coaching staff likes to call Júnior Urso their “temperature taker.” When the Bear is feeling it, the team tends to follow.

And boy, was the Bear ever feeling it on Saturday night.

Urso’s 13th minute goal was the difference as Orlando City took down FC Cincinnati 1-0, helping him earn Heikenen Man of the Match honors on the night.

The goal was a thing of beauty. Ruan, given license to roam free on the right by the Cincinnati defense, took the ball straight into the penalty area and packed in the Cincy defense. With nowhere to go with the ball inside, Ruan checked it back to an onrushing Urso, who unleashed a pinpoint bender to put Orlando in front for good.

From there, Urso helped Orlando take control. The Bear led the team in both total passes and completions, serving as the midfield metronome with Sebas Méndez recovering from international duty. Urso ranked second with 78 total touches and won 6 of his 10 duels. He tied for the team lead with three tackles and chipped in nine ball recoveries as well.
