💬 Oscar Pareja: Orlando City put together a 'complete game' to get shutout win over New York Red Bulls

Orlando City Head Coach Oscar Pareja

Overall thoughts on the game

"It was another good example of the character of the players. I think we looked like a very serious team, a very professional team that came in today and under the discipline and cohesiveness of the players on the field, we found our ways to score in the right moments and beat a difficult rival that never gave up. We are very happy with the victory, and it was nice to see the fans as well in the stands. We are feeling good.”

On the team putting together a full 90-minute performance

“We had a very complete game tonight. We scored goals and kept their goals at zero. New York is a team that never gave up and we maintained our discipline, we did not relax. All the time we were obviously trying to dominate, but the opposition was high all the time. Going away and scoring three goals and have these three points with a solid performance is very encouraging. There are a lot of things that you may think we need to get better at, but as we have said before we are in the right direction. We will keep going and we need to get better at home and we will do it.”

On the performance of Facundo Torres

“It is important for him to score. It is important for him to have one of these games like tonight where he has scored two goals and carries the team on his shoulders. We do not want to throw the full responsibility on him when it comes to scoring, but obviously he knows that. Tonight, was a night where it may be a turning point for him as well. We hope that this gets him in that direction and scoring more goals. We value the work that he does a lot with the work without the ball, the discipline and the connections he creates for the team. He knows that scoring goals is what is going to make us add points and victories.”

Overall thoughts on the game

“First off, I am very happy and very happy for the team getting this victory. We have been doing a lot of great work and hard work off the field and it is great to see those results coming to fruition on the field. We have been playing really well coming into this game, we even played really well against Atlanta and probably deserved a victory that escaped us in those last minutes. I am just really happy with the result tonight. We got the victory that our hard work has deserved over the last few weeks.”

On if this was the best performance the team has had so far this season

“At the end of the day, yes because we were able to get the victory tonight and get the three points. I think also the game against Atlanta we were playing really, really well and the only thing we were missing was finishing off the attack at times. I think the way the team flowed and worked in the last couple of games, I think tonight was the best in our last stretch of games. We can probably say it was our best because we were able to get the three points.”

On representing Uruguay and continuing the form to keep getting called up to the national team

“When you are having good adaptations and good run of form with your Club, it is just going to help you even more when you go to the national team and get called up. We have all been wanting to work hard with the new coach coming in for Uruguay. For me, I am just incredibly proud. There is nothing better to me than being able to represent my country and represent Uruguay and all of the people back there. When you are having a good run of form with the Club, it can only help your chances and show everyone at the national team that you deserve to be called up. Now I have this good run of form and I am going to go to the national team and do all that I can and play my role the best that I can.”
