Orlando Pride Closes Preseason with 5-0 Win Over Puerto Rico Sol

ORLANDO, Fla. (April 7, 2019) - Orlando Pride wrapped up preseason play on Sunday evening, defeating Liga PR Femenina side Puerto Rico Sol 5-0 at Orlando City Stadium. Brazilian midfielder Camila led the Pride with a brace, while Rachel Hill, Carson Pickett and UCF product Bridget Callahan also scored.

With preseason behind them, the Pride will turn their attention to the 2019 National Women’s Soccer League season opener. Orlando will open the season at home next Sunday, with Portland Thorns FC visits Orlando City Stadium for a 5 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are available at orlando-pride.com or by calling (855) ORL-CITY.

Orlando Pride Head Coach Marc Skinner:
“[The match] is a wonderful, wonderful learning experience, which is exactly what I wanted. I had no idea what the team would be like that we were playing and they banked up with as many players as they could get behind the ball. That is a wonderful challenge because, first half, we didn’t meet that challenge. Second half, once we adjusted at halftime in the tactical things, I thought we were much better second half and that’s something to be really proud of.”

Scoring Summary:

41’ Camila (PK) - ORL 1, PR 0
After dominating first-half possession, the Pride finally breakthrough minutes before half on a Camila penalty kick, freezing the Puerto Rico goalkeeper on her line. Orlando earned the shot after Danica Evans was taken down in the box on a Carson Pickett corner kick.

59’ Carson Pickett (Erin Greening) - ORL 2, PR 0
Defender Carson Pickett doubles the Pride lead, connecting on a header in the box following a cross from 2019 draft pick Erin Greening.

71’ Bridget Callahan (Rachel Hill) - ORL 3, PR 0
University of Central Florida product Bridget Callahan makes it a three-goal lead in the 71st minute, finding a lane through the box and being fed in-stride by teammate Rachel Hill.

83’ Rachel Hill - ORL 4, PR 0
Twelve minutes after assisting on Callahan's goal, Hill gets herself on the board with a quick move around the Sol goalkeeper before pushing a shot in.

86’ Camila (Briana Solis) - ORL 5, PR 0
The Pride round of the scoring with Camila’s second of the evening, this time on a rocketed shot from 25 yards out.
