ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 30, 2023) — Orlando Pride began its 2023 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) preseason training on Monday morning at the Orlando Health Training Ground at Sylvan Lake Park led by Head Coach Seb Hines in his first full season at the helm. The Pride enter training camp with 28 players on the preseason roster, with 21 players under contract for 2023.

Joining the Pride for the coming campaign are 2023 NWSL Draft third overall selection Emily Madril out of Florida State University, as well as the Club’s newest signings in Brazilian international Adriana and goalkeeper Carly Nelson. Adriana, commonly referred to as “The Wizard”, will join the Pride for preseason upon receipt of her P1 visa.

The side returns a number of young talents ahead of the coming season including 2021 NWSL Draft selections Viviana Villacorta, Mikayla Colohan, Kerry Abello and Kaylie Collins, as well as Julie Doyle and Caitlin Cosme, who were both selected the following year.

The 2023 season will also mark the return of Brazilian legend Marta to the Pride after being sidelined a year ago due to a torn ACL. After entering the league’s inaugural period of Free Agency, Marta rejoins the Club on a two-year deal. Joining the six-time FIFA World Player of the Year in returning after free agency is midfielder Erika Tymrak, who also returns to downtown Orlando on a two-year agreement.

The Pride’s five 2023 NWSL Draft picks will all join the Pride for preseason, with Madril serving as the lone under contract after signing a deal with the NWSL in 2022 that sees her signed with the Pride through the 2025 campaign. Messiah Bright, Tori Hansen, Summer Yates and Kristen Scott all enter camp after being selected on Jan. 12 in Philadelphia.
