ORLANDO, Fla. (April 3, 2023) — The Orlando Pride has announced the signing of 18-year-old Canadian international Amanda Allen, joining the Club on a three-year deal through the 2025 season. Allen, who was recently called up to Canada’s senior national team for this international window, will join the Pride pending the receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
“Amanda is a player that we see as one of the future stars of both the NWSL and of the Canadian national team, and we’re so happy to be able to bring her to Orlando. She’s a dynamic, attack-minded player who is going to bring even more competition to our roster,” said Orlando Pride VP of Soccer Operations and GM Haley Carter. “Amanda is one of the most promising and exciting players in our game, and she is going to flourish in her development as both a player and person here with the Pride.”
“The week that I came in to train, I really felt like I was a part of the team and I felt like going pro was the next step for me and Orlando made me feel welcome, really pushed my boundaries. I just loved it here, I loved the environment,” Allen said of her decision to join the Pride. “The team culture was huge for me. Just the way everybody acted so professionally and really welcomed me in and had passion for the game. It felt like I was part of the family already, so I can't wait to step on the field with them.”
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Allen helped lead Canada to a bronze medal at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic, scoring two goals in the group stage opener against the hosts and one in the first knockout round match against Honduras. After that tournament, Allen was named to Canada’s 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup roster, scoring in the final group stage match against Japan.
To close out the 2022 calendar year, Allen received her first call-up to the senior women’s national team, ultimately making her debut against Brazil on November 22 at age 17.
The forward has been playing with the Ontario National Development Centre since 2022 and was named to Canada’s senior team roster for its April 11 match against France.
