Orlando City Youth Soccer Donates $3,000 to Women Playing for T.I.M.E.

Women Playing For TIME

ORLANDO – November 7, 2014 – Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) donated $3,000 to Women Playing for T.I.M.E. (WPFT) today, directly benefitting the organization dedicated to making a positive impact on women facing cancer.
The presentation took place at the UF Health Cancer Center – Orlando Health. Dr. Mark Roh, President of the UF Health Cancer Center – Orlando Health was in attendance to accept the donation.

Orlando Health is the official medical team and jersey sponsor of Orlando City SC.

OCYS’ fundraiser occurred throughout October during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month – urging families in the youth club and members of the local community to take part in the cause.

The funds raised by OCYS will benefit cancer Technology, Immediate diagnosis, Mammography and Education (T.I.M.E.) at the UF Health Cancer Center at Orlando Health.

“We are delighted to be able to impact and contribute to such an important cause,” said OCYS Executive Director Stephen Rammel. “Women Playing for T.I.M.E. is a fantastic organization, and we were very pleased with the response from not only OCYS families but members of the local community as well.”

OCYS offered pink Orlando City jerseys for purchase to its players and families to be worn during training sessions and Orlando City Cup matches. With OCYS teams practicing at seven sites throughout the greater Orlando area, the pink jerseys were highly visible in Central Florida – building awareness of the national campaign.

Additionally, the British American Chamber of Commerce (BACC) assisted in the fundraising process, hosting a “Pink Out” event on October 21st. The BACC’s 50/50 raffle generated over $200 for the WPFT.
The donation by OCYS expands upon the Club’s support of WPFT. In August, Orlando City SC raised over $7,000 for WPFT by auctioning pink match-worn jerseys – trumping its 2013 total by nearly $2,000.
