Orlando City Volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club

OC Boys and Girls Club

On Thursday, June 19th, Orlando City Foundation collaborated with Fifth Third Bank’s Summer of Dreams initiative to participate in a Game Day event at the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida’s Downtown Branch.

From 9.30-11.30am, Orlando City Foundation members and front office staff, partnered with children of the center to play various board games. The Boys & Girls Club’s summer theme for the children is to learn how original board games were invented. Directors of the center will look to get the students away from becoming so reliable on technology games for entertainment but rather interactive board games. The children will research the history of games and the problem solving aspects that are required. The children will wrap up their research through brainstorming and creating their own board games. For all of the Orlando City staff and Foundation Board members, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable.

“I am so blessed to be able to give my time to volunteer at a wonderful place like the Boys & Girls Club,” said Orlando City staff member Jennifer O’Connor. “It feels great to be able to bring smiles to the children’s faces and be actively involved with some of the Orlando City Foundations efforts in the community.”

For the 2014-2015 season, the Orlando City Foundation has chosen to support Fifth Third Bank. The Orlando City Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and is committed to supporting charities that improve the lives of children in our Central Florida community.
