Orlando City SC loans Defender Luca Petrasso to Triestina

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 12, 2024) – Orlando City SC has loaned defender Luca Petrasso to Unione Sportiva Triestina Calcio 1918 of Italy’s Serie C, commonly referred to as Triestina, on a six-month loan with an option to buy, it was announced today.

"Luca is someone who has shown us his hard work and potential for the future,” said Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi. “This loan is a great opportunity for Luca to grow even more and get more regular competitive minutes, as well as expose his talents to the European market. We look forward to watching how he grows over these next six months and takes advantage of his opportunity.”

Since joining the Lions via trade ahead of the 2023 season, Petrasso has made 14 appearances and five starts across all competitions, including both of City’s Concacaf Champions League matches against Tigres UANL. The 23-year-old Toronto native also appeared three times for the Canada Men’s U-17 National Team in the 2017 Concacaf U-17 Championship in Panama at the international level.

Based out of Trieste, Italy and playing in the Italian Serie C, Triestina currently sits third in the Group A table of the league with 42 points through 20 matches played and just eight points out of the automatic promotion spot.
