ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 1, 2025) – Orlando City SC has acquired forward Tyrese Spicer from Toronto FC in exchange for $225,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $275,000 in 2026 GAM, it was announced today. An additional $50,000 in GAM will be sent to Toronto if certain performance-based incentives are met.
"We’re excited to welcome Tyrese to Orlando. He’s a hardworking, left-footed talent from the Trinidad & Tobago national team who brings additional depth and energy to our side,” said Orlando City SC General Manager & Sporting Director Ricardo Moreira. “His relentless work rate and ability to stretch the field will give us a much-needed boost and add another dimension to our attack moving forward.”
The 24-year-old left winger was selected first overall by Toronto FC in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. Since the start of the 2024 season, he has made 42 appearances and 21 starts across all competitions, including 40 appearances and 20 starts in MLS play. During that time, the Trinidad & Tobago international has recorded six goals and one assist for Toronto, with two of those goals coming in Canadian Championship matches.
On the international stage, Spicer has earned six caps for the Trinidad & Tobago senior national team and made two additional appearances for the U-15 squad, contributing two assists. A native of Trincity, he made his senior international debut on March 21, 2025, in a Concacaf Gold Cup qualification match against Cuba, helping the Soca Warriors to a 2–1 victory.
Spicer joins Orlando City SC following a standout collegiate career at Lipscomb University. Over four seasons with the Bisons, Spicer tallied 29 goals and 18 assists in 57 appearances. In 2023, he was named ASUN Player of the Year after leading the conference with 14 goals and 3 assists in just 16 matches, scoring in 10 straight games to start the season. He finished as the ASUN leader in multiple categories, including goals, points, shots on goal, and game-winners, and led the nation in goals per game.
Spicer earned First Team All-American and All-Region honors from United Soccer Coaches and was a semi-finalist for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy. His earlier seasons included ASUN First and Second Team selections, with consistent goal contributions each year. Before college, Spicer starred at St. Augustine Secondary School in Trinidad, earning MVP and top scorer honors while helping his team to a North Zone Championship.
