Orlando City Pro Academy U-17/18s, U-15/16s Go 4-0 in North Carolina

Academy Update 2

It was an undefeated weekend for the Orlando City Pro Academy.

The U-17/18s improved to 10-1-0 and took sole possession of first place in the Southeast Division with two wins in North Carolina this weekend. On Saturday, the Lions scored two goals in a four-minute span, from Raul Aguilera and Mikael Martins, to take a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Soccer Academy. Then on Sunday, another two-goal burst – this time from Martins and David Norris – secured a 2-0 win over the Carolina Rapids.

“The 17/18s played some sublime soccer both days,” Academy Director David Longwell said. “The only thing that was lacking was we didn’t take all our chances. We should’ve scored more goals.”

The U-15/16s matched their elders’ results with two wins of their own. On Saturday, the Lions put out a “really strong performance” and took a 4-1 win over the Charlotte Soccer Academy.  They had a much tougher challenge on Sunday but edged the Carolina Rapids with a last-minute goal for a 2-1 win.

“It was a hard weekend having to play four games in two days and I’m proud of all the players and staff for their efforts over the weekend,” Academy Director David Longwell said. “Both groups played some good soccer over the four games and we can see a lot of development from players individually and collectively as a team.”
