“We certainly think that New York will bring an intensity to the game. We know from the prior games that we need to be 100% concentrated and try to match that intensity that we have done,” Head Coach Oscar Pareja said ahead of the match. “At the same time, pay attention to the quality of our game and the quality of our team knowing that we’re at home. We’re looking for those points.”

Sunday’s contest will serve as one of two to take place at Exploria Stadium on the day, with MLS NEXT Pro side Orlando City B set to take the field at 7 p.m. ET following the conclusion of the Lions and Red Bulls’ fixture. Tickets purchased for the Orlando City match will be valid for both contests.

The Lions enter the weekend after taking a 2-1 victory from the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Wednesday in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Alexandre Pato and Júnior Urso each scored for the Lions to punch their ticket to the next round, now sitting tied for the team lead in goals scored across all competitions with three apiece.

Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese sits tied for the league-lead in clean sheets this campaign with Chicago Fire FC’s Gaga Slonina, each with five to their credit in 2022.

The Red Bulls also took part in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action at the midweek, taking a 2-1 victory from Hartford Athletic. Lewis Morgan and Aaron Long each scored for the visitors on the night.

Morgan leads the Red Bulls with four goals in all competitions this campaign, while Frankie Amaya and Patryk Klimala lead the side in assists with three each.
