Orlando City Foundation Awards Another Grant

OCF Grant

In an effort to continue to support Central Florida in its quest of making soccer available to children in the community, Orlando City Foundation issued a grant for Lockhart Middle School to kick-start a coed soccer program. The grant was voted on by the Foundation Board and approved December 2013. Lockhart Middle School received the funds January 2014 and used the grant to purchase all soccer equipment for their upcoming inaugural season.

In January, the Orlando City Foundation gave a micro-grant to Lockhart Middle School for its brand new soccer program. Orlando City Foundations’ micro-grants are distributed in amounts of $500-$1,000 to help organizations build on its community initiatives. With the help of Orlando City Foundation’s micro-grant, Lockhart was not only able to start a coed soccer program, but also compete agasinst other teams.

“We are so fortunate to have had Orlando City Foundations’ help with our new coed soccer program. Because of the Orlando City Foundation, we have the best uniforms, best soccer balls, and the best attitude,” said Lockhart Middle School Soccer Program Coordinator Roger Barrios. “We recently played in our first game ever, and we won! We will always be grateful to your organization. Thank you!”

Both the Foundation and Club are happy to be apart of the inaugural season of soccer for Lockhart Middle School!
