Orlando City Drops 2-1 Decision at Inter Miami

Recap MIA 2

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2020) - Orlando City SC (8-3-8, 32 points) fell by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon against Inter Miami CF (6-11-3, 21 points) at Inter Miami CF Stadium, its first defeat since August 22 following a 12-game unbeaten stretch.

Daryl Dike scored the lone goal for the Lions in the match, his fifth of the season and now trailing only Chris Mueller for the team lead in that category. Antonio Carlos recorded the assist on the finish, the first of his MLS career. In addition, forward Matheus Aiás made his Orlando City debut in the match, entering in second half stoppage time for Andrés Perea.

Head Coach Oscar Pareja:

“Good first half for us until Miami started reacting and put some better opposition in the middle and just started getting more space in there and started moving the ball. I think the first half [drop off] was pretty much at the end, we had the initiative at the beginning but then Miami started just leveling things. In the second half, they started to be sharper and we started on the opposite side, just leveling in the middle of the half and we started creating some sequences and opportunities that could put the game away. At the end, it’s very dramatic for us because it happens at a moment where we have a great opportunity to unbalance the game and then we conceded that one goal. A good match, another derby and we’ll keep growing. We’ll keep moving, this is the league.”
