Orlando City B Picks Up Win at Richmond

OCb Recap

RICHMOND, Va. (August 12, 2017) – Orlando City B (6-6-10, 28 points) finished off a two-game road trip with a 1-0 win against the Richmond Kickers (3-12-8, 17 points) Saturday at City Stadium. Hadji Barry scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season as the Lions earned their eighth clean sheet of the season and extend their unbeaten run to eight games.

“We played some good football first half and then we went [into halftime] a goal up. Hadji took his goal well. Second half we weren’t quite at the races,” OCB head coach Anthony Pulis said. “I give a lot of credit to Richmond, I thought they played well. Full credit to the guys because they found a way to grind out three points, defended resolutely and we got a shutout on the road. We’re now eight games unbeaten so we’re pleased with the result.”

First Team players Earl Edwards, Jr., Kevin Alston, Seb Hines, Rafael Ramos Tony Rocha, Pierre Da Silva, and Barry all started the match. First Team defender Conor Donovan was in the 18-man lineup.

OCB managed the majority of the match’s dangerous attempts, including Barry’s skillful strike into the net in the 24th minute. After an attempted clearance landed at the striker’s feet, Barry glanced at goal and fired past a helpless Matt Turner as Da Silva earned his team-leading seventh assist of the season. Da Silva continued to move the ball in front of goal, hitting the crossbar in the 36th minute and creating several more scoring opportunities.

Lions defender Zach Carroll was handed a red card in the fourth minute of stoppage time after earning his second yellow card of the match.

The strong defensive performance earned the Lions their fourth clean sheet in six games. The win extends Orlando City B’s unbeaten run to eight games and puts the Lions in a tie with New York Red Bulls II for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Lions return to Orlando City Stadium on Wednesday to face Ottawa Fury at 7:30 p.m. ET.
