The injury bug has hit the OL Reign recently, as the Club were forced to place two players on their season-ending injury list in defender Sinclaire Miramontez and forward Tobin Heath. Heath was acquired by the Reign in June and appeared in five matches, tallying one goal, which was the game-winning goal on July 30 against Angel City FC when the Reign pulled off a 3-2 comeback on the road. Miramontez made three starts in four appearances for the Reign during the 2022 season, including two matches that resulted in a shutout, totaling 271 minutes played.
The Reign are currently riding a six-game unbeaten streak, with five of those matches resulting in wins. The Reign have tallied 13 goals during their run and have won three-straight road games. Their most recent matchup resulted in a 2-0 win over the Houston Dash and with the result, the Reign clinched a spot in the NWSL playoffs. The Club is just one point back of first place and will be fighting for the NWSL Shield.
Megan Rapinoe has found the back of the net six times this season, with five of those goals coming in her last six matches. She has also tallied four assists this season, with three of them also coming during that span. Rapinoe has played 13 games this year, with eight starts and is finding her form at a vital time for the Reign during this playoff push.
The Reign defeated the Pride, 2-1, in their matchup earlier this season at Exploria Stadium. Meggie Dougherty Howard provided the lone goal on the night, with the Reign scoring two unanswered goals in the second half, including a game-winning goal from Rapinoe in the 92nd minute. The loss snapped a seven-consecutive unbeaten streak for the Pride, which finished tied for the second longest in Club history.
