U.S. WNT staple and New Jersey native Carli Lloyd announced her retirement from both international and club soccer at the conclusion of this season, making Saturday potentially her last visit to Orlando. Gotham has seen a change in coaching staff as former head coach Freya Coombe has moved to Angel City FC, who will start play next season. Scott Parkinson and former NWSL player Beverly Yanez have taken over at the helm at Gotham FC as head coach and assistant coach, respectively.
Gotham are coming off a 0-0 draw with the Washington Spirit in their midweek match p this past Wednesday. The match was moved to Suburu Park in Philadelphia and served as Carli Lloyd’s farewell match in front of her hometown fans.
Ifeoma Onumonu currently sits with seven goals and Midge Purce is not far behind at five goals on the season to lead Gotham. Nahomi Kawasumi and Caprice Dydasco both lead the New Jersey-based side with four assists on the season.
Orlando Pride currently have a record of 3-1-2 at home against Gotham, with the lone loss coming in 2016. The Pride have matched up against the Tri-State team twice this season, tallying a draw and a win. In the last meeting between the teams at Red Bull Arena, the lone goal and eventual game-winner was scored by Erika Tymrak, with the helper coming from Sydney Leroux.
