In Orlando City’s stunning 4-1 win against the Portland Timbers, Kevin Molino found the back of the net for his first goal in Major League Soccer. Molino missed most of last season with an ACL injury, but tonight he proved that he is back and better than ever.
“It felt great,” Molino said after the match. “That’s gonna help my confidence going into the next game.”
Molino scored the goal after drawing a penalty kick in the 75th minute. While penalty kicks are usually taken by the captain, Kaká, tonight he decided to let Molino take the shot. “He gave it to me,” Molino said. “And he said ‘we believe in you.’”
Of course, Kaká was right and Molino gave Orlando City their fourth goal of the game. Molino also got a goal earlier this week playing at the international level for Trinidad and Tobago, leading some (including Head Coach Adrian Heath) to believe that this could be the start of something for Molino. “I don’t want to jump the gun yet,” Molino said, laughing. “I’m gonna take it slow.”

For Molino and his teammates, it’s all about looking forward to the next game. “To be the champions, you have to beat the champions,” Molino said with a smile. “I’m just gonna keep working hard and whatever comes my way, I’m gonna take it.”
“We just need to keep on going,” Molino said. “Keep going down to the very end.”
