Summer is very clearly Bear Season here in Orlando.

Júnior Urso added his fifth goal of the season in all competitions, stepping up massively in Mauricio Pereyra’s absence to help Orlando City to a crucial 2-1 victory over New York City FC on Sunday night. Urso was named Heineken Man of the Match by the Orlando City fans for his performance.

While Tesho Akindele is deservedly receiving the headlines for his 96th-minute winner, it was Urso’s goal that got Orlando going in the seventh minute of play. He helped create his own shot, receiving a throw-in from Ruan and putting NYCFC midfielder Justin Haak in a blender with a vicious turn before knocking the ball back to Facundo Torres. Urso continued his run as El Cuervo dinked the ball into the penalty area, where the Bear could take a perfect touch before slamming his shot on the half-volley past Sean Johnson.

The linesman initially ruled Urso offside, but replay showed NYCFC right back Anton Tinnerholm had kept Urso on and the goal was given after video review.

Urso kept the engine humming for the entire 90 minutes. The Brazilian led Orlando City with five shots, led all Lions starters with a 90% passing accuracy and won possession in the final third on two occasions. Urso now has two goals and two assists in his last five MLS matches.
