El Cuervo takes flight once again and this time into the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Forward Facundo Torres helped lift the Lions over the Columbus Crew this weekend with his ninth goal of the MLS regular season, coming from the spot. Torres was named Heineken Man of the Match by the Orlando City fans for his performance.

In the final ten minutes of the match, and with playoffs on the line, a corner kick deep into the box found the head of Rodrigo Schlegel who played it to the top of the six-yard box for a daring effort from Benji Michel. His shot was deflected off the Crew’s Miles Degenek and looked to be out for a corner. Following an Alex Chilowicz VAR check, a handball was called and the penalty kick was given.

The strike was as cool and as collected as we have come to expect from the 22-year-old Uruguayan as he blasted the ball past the outstretched arms of Eloy Room to clinch the Club’s third-straight playoff appearance.

Torres had a solid afternoon moving the ball around for Orlando, completing 28/30 passes with 21 of those successful passes occurring on the attacking side of the field. Torres finished his first MLS regular season campaign with nine goals and 10 assists in League play.
