Alexandre Pato continues to shine for Orlando City through the early part of the 2022 MLS Regular Season.
The Brazilian added another goal and displayed his ingenuity and creativity throughout Orlando’s wide-open shootout with LAFC this past weekend, winning Heineken Man of the Match honors from the Orlando City faithful.
Pato appeared to have the game’s first goal in the 11th minute through a brilliant combination sequence with Ercan Kara and Facundo Torres, but Torres was ruled just a hair offside in the buildup. The former AC Milan star wouldn’t stay off the scoresheet for long, though After LAFC got the lead, Pato equalized with a stunning volley from his left foot.
Pato now has two goals and an assist through five appearances this season, showing more and more of the tantalizing skill he’s flashed throughout his career.
The Brazilian also reminded all of his spectacular on-ball ability. Pato won every single one of his seven duels and successfully completed two dribbles on the night. He also created two chances through his passing, including a potential 90th-minute equalizer that rated as Orlando’s best chance of the night by Opta’s expected goals model.
