Three weeks, three golazos, three Heineken Man of the Match awards.
Nani shined brightest once again this past weekend, scoring his third wondergoal in as many matches to net Orlando City a point against NYCFC.
“It’s good to score for your team,” Nani said after the match. “It’s very nice to score at your stadium in front of your fans...I’ve been working so hard and been focused on my game and this is the reward for what you do during the week.”
For the third straight week, Nani was named to the MLS Team of the Week bench. The Portuguese was also nominated once again for AT&T Goal of the Week, looking to defend his title after winning the award for his sensational golazo against Cincinnati.
Nani did his usual fine work beyond the goal as well. The captain won five of his seven duels, provided a key pass, delivered six open-play crosses and added a tackle, an interception and five ball recoveries on the defensive end. Nani also touched the ball 74 times, good for third highest on the team despite playing in a forward position where possession tends to come less often.
