Ethan Subachan Scores First Professional Goal as Lions Fall to Philadelphia

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 24, 2022) - Orlando City B (4-9-3, 17 points) dropped a 3-1 decision on Sunday night to Philadelphia Union II (5-7-3, 20 points) at Osceola County Stadium. Ethan Subachan scored his first professional goal on the night after coming into the match late in the second half.

The match saw both sides be reduced to 10 men within 10 minutes of one another, as Union II goalkeeper Matt Freese was shown a red card in the 69th minute followed by Orlando City B goalkeeper Javier Otero in the 77th. The Lions would go on to be reduced to nine players late in second half stoppage time, with Diego Pareja being shown a second yellow card.

The Lions will now enter into a week off from match play before traveling to take on Toronto FC II on Sunday, August 7 at York Lions Stadium.

52’ Matt Real (Christopher Donovan, Brandon Craig) - PHI 1, OCB 0

The Union took the lead shortly after halftime off a corner kick from the left side whipped in by Brandon Craig and finding the head of Christopher Donovan in the area at the far post. Donovan was able to send it back across the face of goal, finding the head of Matt Real for the finish.

85’ Ethan Subachan (Moises Tablante) - OCB 1, PHI 1

The Lions leveled with Alex Freeman threading a ball down the right flank for Moises Tablante, who whipped it across to a wide open Ethan Subachan at the far post, who fired his shot first time straight into the back of the net.

87’ Jesús Bueno (Quinn Sullivan) - PHI 2, OCB 1

Philadelphia quickly regained the lead with Jesús Bueno rifling off a shot that was blocked by the Lions defense, eventually falling to the feet of Quinn Sullivan. The Union II forward then took a shot of his own, finding Bueno once more who was able to tuck it into the back of the net.

90+4’ Nelson Pierre (Quinn Sullivan) - PHI 3, OCB 1

The Union added the insurance after jumping on a Lions turnover at midfield, with Sullivan taking it up the middle before laying a ball off towards the left edge of the area to Nelson Pierre, who cut the ball to his left foot before sending his shot into the top-right corner.

  • The Lions were reduced to nine men in the match, with Javier Otero and Diego Pareja each being shown a red card. Philadelphia went down a man as well, with Matt Freese being shown a red card.
