City’s U-14 USSDA club went into this past weekend gearing up for the Puma Pro Invitational taking place over Thanksgiving weekend at Disney. The Lions faced IMG Academy Saturday aiming to get a win catapulting them into the invitational on a high.

The Lions did just that. City played to an exceptional 4-0 win versus their opponents from IMG Academy, giving the club their third consecutive win. Leading the charge for City was their defense that kept a clean sheet. Offensively, Besufikad Cushen and Elijah Ryan each notched two goals ensuring the game was beyond all doubt.

“I was proud of the boys for an excellent performance before the Puma Pro Invitational,” said Head Coach Greg Brick. “We have found good form around the goal having scored 10 goals in our last three outings while only conceding three. We’re going into the invitational with great momentum.”

Following City’s excellent result against IMG Academy, the team will now focus their sights on the Puma Pro Invitational at Disney. The boys will be playing against stiff opposition from the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and last but not least, Baltimore Celtic Darby who were last year’s USYSA National Champions.

"The Puma Pro event will be an excellent opportunity for our players to compete against three very good opponents,” stated Head Coach Greg Brick. “One of the best tools in developing as a young player is to compete against the best and this is one of those competitions."

This weekend will surely be an excellent proving ground for the team. The Lions’ fine form heading into the invitational will give them every opportunity to showcase their talents and reveal that they are among the very best in the world. Good luck to the boys in their upcoming matches.
