City’s U-14 Academy Team Continues Run of Good Form

Academy Update 11/12

The Orlando City USSDA U-14 team went back to work heading to Clearwater to play Chargers Soccer Club this past Saturday. The young Lions came into the weekend looking to continue the success they experienced from their performance at the United States Soccer Federation Winter Showcase in North Carolina the previous weekend.

The boys erupted for four goals on their way to a 4-2 win that was in their control from the opening whistle. Elijah Ryan, Besufikad Cushen, Beto Ydrach and Bruno Furtado each notched a goal, with Bruno Furtado recording two assists.

"Our goal was to carry our momentum from a successful showing in North Carolina into our league play,” stated U-14 Head Coach Greg Brick. "Our desire to get forward and score goals was impressive this past weekend. The movement by our attacking players and the quality of the final pass continues to improve."

The dominating win on Saturday brought the U-14s record to 3-3-2 on the season with the team’s performances starting to improve entering the middle of the season. The U-14 boys will continue their run of good form this Saturday against Tampa Bay United in Tampa. Both the U-16 and U-18 teams will play in Sanford on Saturday and Sunday.
