2,090 - The wait was worth it

Mason Stajduhar signed as Orlando City’s fourth-ever Homegrown player on November 9, 2015. Since that day, he has been on loans to Louisville, Tulsa and New York City, also suiting up for Orlando City B in two different leagues. He also overcame a battle with bone cancer in 2018. In all that time, Stajduhar never appeared in MLS...until Friday night. Stajduhar’s MLS debut marked 2,090 days since he signed with the first team and the young goalkeeper battled back from an early Atlanta United goal to earn the victory for his club.

0.76 - Mauro Magic

Mauricio Pereyra has heated up big time over the past couple of weeks, providing three assists in just his last two appearances. The Orlando No. 10 has seven assists, ranking a distant second in MLS behind New England’s Carles Gil’s stunning total of 15. However, Gil has played 1,502 minutes compared to just 828 for Pereyra, making their per-minute contributions much closer. Gil still has the edge, but at 0.90 assists per 90 minutes to 0.76 for Pereyra. It’s a long way down the leaderboard to everyone else–the next closest player in MLS with at least 800 minutes is Carlos Vela of LAFC, all the way down at 0.50.

2.08 - Nani’s at the wheel

Orlando City captain Nani has had a stellar 2021, already surpassing his 2020 box score statistics with 8 goals and 5 assists in 13 appearances. Orlando is 7-1-4 when Nani is in the starting lineup this season, equating to 2.08 points per game, which would be just a tick behind where New England is for the Supporters’ Shield lead.

21:56 - Quick turnaround

Tesho Akindele got the start for Canada in their Gold Cup semifinal against Mexico last Thursday night, leaving the game in the 69th minute at 11:48 p.m. Eastern. After Canada fell in extra time, Akindele boarded a plane from Houston to Orlando the next morning and got dressed for that night’s City game against Atlanta. He entered the game from the bench in the 74th minute at 9:44 p.m. ET on Friday night, just 21 hours and 56 minutes after exiting the previous night’s game.
