50 - The Oscar half-century

Oscar Pareja tied the all-time Orlando City head coaching wins record in the MLS era with the Lions’ 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night, winning his 22nd game in what was his 50th game managed in all competitions for Orlando City. Within his first 50 matches, Pareja has taken Orlando City to a cup final and its first-ever Audi MLS Cup Playoffs appearance.

7 - Blank slates

Orlando City’s all-time record for clean sheets in a single season is seven, achieved on three separate occasions (in 2015, 2017, and 2019). With 14 matches to play in the 2021 campaign, Orlando sits at six clean sheets, needing just one more to set the record and two more to break it. Three different goalkeepers have contributed to the effort: Pedro Gallese (4 clean sheets), Brandon Austin (1) and Mason Stajduhar (1).

6 - Starting off strong

Speaking of Stajduhar, who was Heineken Man of the Match for the Chicago Fire game, he’s on the cusp of putting his own name in the Orlando City record books. Tally Hall began his Orlando run in 2015 with five-straight MLS results before taking a loss, a streak that Stajduhar became the first to equal with the win over the Fire. If Stajduhar gets the nod in goal and Orlando wins or draws Inter Miami on Friday, Stajduhar would have the record all to himself.

2.17 - Summertime happiness

Things were not looking great for Inter Miami a few weeks ago. As of July 30, the Herons were 2-8-3, sitting last in the Eastern Conference and sporting a 0.69 points per game mark. Since then, though, Inter Miami has a 4-1-1 record, good for 2.17 PPG. This current run, which included a draw at Exploria Stadium on August 4, has brought Miami to 1.16 PPG for the season and has them at least in the conversation for a playoff spot in the East.
