Breaking Down the XI: James O’Connor’s Debut

Oconnor Xi

In his first match as head coach of Orlando City, James O’Connor will display a 4-2-3-1 on the road against the expansion side Los Angeles Football Club.

The biggest addition to the lineup tonight is the return of Yoshi Yotún from the World Cup. Yoshi started all three matches in group play for Peru and will slot into the defensive midfield alongside Yuri Rosell. Look for Yoshi’s distribution to provide tangible improvements to Orlando City’s attack.

O’Connor has gone with youth and speed on the wings. Both Josué Colmán and Chris Mueller get the start on the wings and should be able to create space for Dom Dwyer up top.

New assistant coach Daniel Byrd and goalkeeper coach Thabane Sutu will both be on the sideline tonight

Starting XI presented by Orlando Health: Bendik, Toia, Tarek, Spector (C), Allen, Yotún, Rosell, Colmán, Kljestan, Mueller, Dwyer.

Bench: Powers, Rocha, Meram, El-Munir, Schuler, Pinho, Edwards Jr.
