Orlando City defender Robin Jansson was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 36 following a dominant defensive outing against Nashville SC in the Lions’ 1-0 win over the Tennessee side. Jansson finished the match with a team-high four clearances, a team-high 10 recoveries and a tackle won, while winning four of his five duels. Nashville SC did not put a single shot on target all night and finished with only 0.36 expected goals in the match.

El Pulpo Hits Double Digits

Orlando City goalkeeper Pedro Gallese recorded his 10th clean sheet of the 2023 regular season and his 11th overall this year across all competitions. Gallese has now become the first Orlando City goalkeeper to post 10 shutouts in a single regular season, surpassing his own mark of nine set last season. “El Pulpo” has not conceded a goal in the last 218 minutes of play.

Running on Duncan

Orlando City rookie forward Duncan McGuire tallied his 10th goal of the 2023 campaign with the game-winner against Nashville SC. With the strike he became just the fifth draft college draft pick in MLS history to score double-digit goals in the same season that he was drafted, joining former Lion Cyle Larin, current FC Cincinnati Head Coach Pat Noonan, Seattle Sounders winger Jordan Morris and former Jamaican international Damani Ralph.

Making the Extra Pass

Captain Mauricio Pereyra and Designated Player Martín Ojeda both picked up assists on McGuire’s 44th-minute winner on Wednesday night, with Ojeda picking up the primary and Pereyra the secondary. The helpers served as the 10th of the season respectively for both Orlando City midfielders. Ojeda was able to provide 10 assists in just 15 starts so far in his first season as a Lion, while Pereyra has now recorded double-digit helpers in three consecutive seasons in the City Beautiful.
