Orlando City Prepared for First Meeting With Los Angeles FC

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 6, 2018) - Orlando City SC (6-10-1, 19 points) travels west for its first ever meeting with 2018 expansion side Los Angeles FC (9-4-4, 31 points) on Saturday, July 7. Kickoff is set for 11 p.m. ET at Banc of California Stadium.


The match will be nationally broadcast on FS1 and FOX Deportes. It will also be transmitted on Real Radio 104.1 FM in English and La Nueva 990 AM in Spanish.


“You have to embrace every challenge. Anyone who knows me knows that I am very hungry and I’m determined to get success,” Lions head coach James O’Connor said. “For us it’s a case of narrowing our focus, making sure the preparation is right, that the training is really good and that we go and make sure we get maximum effort against LA on Saturday.”


The match will be O’Connor’s first at the helm after being introduced as City’s head coach on Monday.


The Lions are coming off a 4-0 loss at Atlanta last Saturday. Josef Martinez, Miguel Almiron and Ezequiel Barco scored for the Five Stripes.


Dom Dwyer leads the Lions with seven goals this season. Yoshimar Yotún leads City with five assists and will be available for selection Saturday for the first time since going to the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the Peru national team.


In its last match on Tuesday, LAFC held a two-goal lead in second-half stoppage time in Houston before the Dynamo’s Mauro Manotas and Philippe Senderos scored in the fourth and sixth minutes of stoppage time, respectively, to tie the match.


Carlos Vela leads LAFC with seven goals this season. Diego Rossi leads the team in assists with six, followed by Vela and Marco Ureña with five each.
