Cyle Larin Just Keeps on Scoring

Larin Scoring

In his first season he scored seventeen goals. In his second season he scored fourteen times.

This year, Cyle Larin has six goals in his first six games.

Two of Larin’s goals found the back of the net in Sunday’s match against New York City FC, giving Orlando City a 2-1 victory -- their first on the road. He’s scored nine goals in his seven matches against New York City FC, and this time he made it count in Yankee Stadium.

Larin’s first goal came in the 31st minute. Scott Sutter gave Larin a low cross from the right side that the striker tapped into the net. The second goal came in the 51st minute, when Donny Toia crossed the ball in from the left side and Larin was able to overcome NYC defender Rodney Wallace to head the ball into the net.

“I was able to get past the guy,” Larin said on his second goal. “I just went for the ball and I attacked to push him off and I was able to put it in the corner.”

Despite his success, Larin said there is no secret to scoring against New York City.

“I think it is a good matchup,” Larin said. “I made sure I wanted to play well.”

The match marked the team’s fifth win in six games this season. Larin has scored in all their victories except for the match against the New York Red Bulls, where a header by Servando Carrasco was the difference maker. Still, with six goals in six matches, Larin is proving vital to the Orlando City attack and unstoppable for defenses around the league.

“I just have to keep scoring,” Larin said. “It is nice to keep scoring against them and it is nice we got the win. We have to keep playing well and I have to keep scoring for my team. And if I do we’ll win the game.”
