Cary: Orlando City B Benefits From Moving Downtown

OCB Downtown

After completing their first USL season playing in Melbourne, Florida, it was announced that Orlando City B will move with the rest of the organization to the new stadium in downtown Orlando. The move is a huge plus for the team.

One of the major positive factors is that fact that OCB will now play in a premier soccer-specific facility. From the locker rooms to the pitch, Orlando City’s new digs will be an experience unrivaled in the league. Playing in the same place as the MLS squad will help players that come up from USL get comfortable with the environment, and will help the players grow. The new location will also help them feel more in-touch with the Orlando City community, and give them greater confidence as they develop their skills both on and off the field.

The new location should give them a good boost in attendance as well. It was difficult for Orlando City fans and season ticket members to travel out to OCB games in their inaugural season, but now the team’s matches will be much more accessible in 2017. Fans will have the chance to see the future of their first team prove themselves in the USL. With first team games likely to sell out for most if not the entire season, it will also provide fans a chance to experience the club’s new stadium.

With a strong performance in 2016, OCB made it to the playoffs in their inaugural season. They played a role in the success of the MLS squad, which pulled players from OCB when necessary and used the team to help MLS players coming back from injury. Moving into the new stadium is just another step in the right direction for a team that’s on the rise.
