Orlando City “Playing For Pride” In Final Two Matches

For Pride

As training continues, Kreis and his team prepare to hit the road and travel to Philadelphia for their last road trip of the season. After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Montreal at the start of the month, Orlando City has been eliminated from playoff contention. But Head Coach Jason Kreis believes that his team is capable of winning these last two games, and hopes to finish as high in the table as possible.

“I would see it that we need to finish strong,” Kreis said after training. “There’s two matches left, we have a team that’s good enough to win both matches. We need to show ourselves the right amount of respect, we need to play for pride… and I think most importantly we need to play for our fans.”

While this weekend’s match will be an away game, Orlando City will play their final match of the season in Camping World Stadium on Sunday, October 23rd against D.C. United. For Kreis, it is crucial that his team pick up those three points-- if for nothing other than to honor and respect the fans.

“I’m very disappointed that we have taken some losses at home,” Kreis said. “It deeply affects me and I expect it should affect the group as well. We need to take more pride in playing in front of our fans and I think we owe them to go out and give everything we can in these last two matches.”

For now, Orlando City is focused on the Philadelphia Union. They are continuing to instill the defensive mentality in their team, and hope to make some progress in training before the team breaks for the offseason. But the most important aspect of the team’s final performances of the season is a good send off for their fans.
