Toronto Match Comes At “Exact Right Time” For Orlando City

This past weekend, Orlando City traveled to Denver to face the Colorado Rapids. The game ended in a scoreless draw, a score that the team and head coach were satisfied with considering the change in altitude and the Rapids’ talent level. But this week, with back-to-back home matches on Wednesday and Sunday, the team is looking to win.

“The level of commitment that we got from the players and the togetherness that they showed in the game were really important for me to see,” Head Coach Jason Kreis said about the match in Denver. “I felt like our group stuck together and continued to work extremely hard.”

Orlando City is hoping to take their defensive success against Colorado and translate it into a win in the match against Toronto FC on Wednesday. But that comes with it’s own challenges, especially in a two-game week. “This is a difficult week,” Kreis said. “We’ll want the three points, we always want the three points at home.”

One of the challenges posed by a two-game week is player exhaustion. Kreis and his staff will have to look to the roster and pick players who don’t usually get the most playing time. But Kreis is confident in the depth and the strength of his roster. “I would look for there to be some rotation,” Kreis said. “We’ve got options.”

Another challenge for Orlando City will be regaining that strength on offense, while maintaining the dominant defensive performance they had in Colorado. Orlando City’s roster has one of the best offenses in the league, and Kreis is confident that his team will be able to find the right rhythm. “I think it comes at the exact right time,” Kreis said regarding the game against Toronto. “I have no fears that we’ll accomplish the job.”

Orlando City will face Toronto FC on Wednesday, August 24th at 7:30pm in Camping World Stadium.
