It has been about three weeks since Orlando City traded for attacking midfielder Matías Pérez García. In that time, García has played 126 minutes for the club over the course of three games. This past weekend against Colorado, Garcia came on as a sub for Julio Baptista in the 63rd minute and created offensive chances, connecting with Cyle Larin in the 78th minute for a shot that went just over the bar.

Head Coach Jason Kreis is very pleased with Garcia’s performances with the club and his connection with the rest of the offense. “We traded for a very good player in Matías Pérez García,” Kreis said after training on Monday. Kreis spoke specifically of how Garcia and Kaká work together on the pitch. “I think the combination of those two players on the field at one time is very good.”

García appears to be settling into his new environment well. “I feel very comfortable in the training sessions and the games,” García said after training on Monday. “The team has made me feel very comfortable.”

For García, the most important goal is making sure that he maintains his fitness levels and is always ready to start or enter the game. “I’ll continue to work in training to make sure I’m fit and ready when the coach needs me,” García said.

As for the game against Toronto FC, García feels confident that his team is in control. “I think it’s gonna be mostly about us, about what we’ve been doing and how we face them,” García said. “We’ll try to get this result here at home.”
