Kaká Called Up to Brazilian National Team for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

ORLANDO, Fla – March 3, 2016 – Orlando City SC captain Kaká has been called up to the Brazilian National Team for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay, the Club announced today.

City’s playmaker and Brazil will face Uruguay on March 25 at Arena Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil, at 8:45 p.m. ET, before taking on Paraguay on March 29 at Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay at 8:45 p.m. ET.

The Lions’ attacking midfielder will represent his home nation during the Lions’ two-week Major League Soccer (MLS) break and will return for the home match against the Portland Timbers on April 3.

Throughout his professional career, Kaká has received 91 caps for the Seleçao, playing in three FIFA World Cups and winning a World Cup title in 2002, scoring 29 goals. Most recently, City’s ‘10’ was called up for Brazil’s previous World Cup Qualifiers in November 2015 for the fixtures against Peru and Venezuela.

Kaká played a crucial role in Orlando City's inaugural campaign, starting 28 matches in 28 appearances. The Lions' captain recorded nine goals while also notching seven assists.
In 2016, the Brazilian has continued his dominant performances as the team prepares for its second MLS campaign, registering four goals and four assists in four preseason games played.
