It was an electrifying performance from Nani on Friday night in Kansas City as the captain took home his first Heineken Man of the Match award of the 2021 season.
It has to start with Nani’s goal, one of the filthiest finishes you’ll see all year:
Nani’s goal was nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week and helped Orlando City take a road point from the team that finished atop the Western Conference in 2020.
Beyond the goal, Nani played one of his better games in purple, displaying his characteristic sharpness and playmaking flair. The Portuguese led the team with three key passes, four fouls won, and eight duels won, giving Sporting right back Jaylin Lindsey fits throughout the night. Nani was the man who delivered all four of Orlando’s good crosses on the night as well and completed 33 of his 43 passes, a high number for a wide forward who has to take chances with the ball.
Nani and the Lions return to action this Saturday at Exploria Stadium against FC Cincinnati, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 pm.
