Two Group A games down, one to go. The Lions turn to their focus towards Philly in a match that will decide who tops Group A in the MLS is Back Tournament. City and Philadelphia both sit on six points in the group with City edging out the Union on goal differential. Here is what you need to know about Philadelphia: 

Key Transactions and Player News 

Let's start with the guys no longer with Philly. Auston Trusty was traded to Colorado back in November and Haris Medunjanin signed with Cincinnati. The most notable name that left Philadelphia was Marco Fabian whose option was declined just after one season with the club.

The two main acquisitions for Philly so far in 2020 have been Jose Martinez in midfield and Jakob Glesnes at center back. Philly will be without Jose Martinez, however. The midfielder received a one-match suspension for violent conduct in the match against Miami on Tuesday. 

Team Form 

Philly started the 2020 MLS season with a loss to Dallas and then a dramatic 3-3 draw with LAFC, but have been hot with two wins to open the MLS is Back Tournament. 


The Lions are 1-2-2 against Philly. That lone win came back in April of 2018 on the road.

September 11, 2020: Major League Soccer has announced the 2020 regular season schedule through the end of September. From September 18-27, each MLS club will compete in three regular season matches. Additional 2020 MLS regular season matches will be announced pending further developments regarding travel protocols. Attendance at matches will be determined in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines.
