The Story:

  • The Pride drew Angel City on Friday in Orlando, 1-1, after falling behind in the 53rd minute. It was the 18th time the Pride fought back from a deficit to earn at least a point at home, the most such occurrences in NWSL regular season play by any team since Orlando’s inaugural season in 2016.
  • While extending her Club record to 32 goals, Marta scored her first goal in run of play since September 11, 2021, with a late game equalizer in the 88th minute against Angel City. Marta has scored four result-changing goals in the 85th minute or later in regular-season play in her career, only Christen Press and Sam Kerr (five each) scored more.
  • In the last matchup, Orlando ended a five-game winning streak by the Red Stars against the Pride, the longest by either team in matchup history, with a 5-0 win in August last year. The 5-0 result is the largest goal differential by either team in any game in the series and matched Orlando’s biggest win in its history.

Quote of the Week:
“This is a team that doesn’t give up under any circumstances. Going back to Louisville, being two goals down is not an ideal situation that you want to find ourselves in and having to play down as well, but you see the resilience within the squad, and it's allowed us to never give up. I think, going back to last year and the difference between last year and this year, we may have lost that game last year, and got zero points. So, it's nice to come away with a point. And obviously the same thing with Angel City. Never want to go down in games, but again the resilience to come back and get a well-earned point. Late on in the game as well. Two goals that we’ve scored late on in games, it's a testament to the players and the staff, medical staff to make sure we’re fit and prepared for those scenarios that we’re facing right now. Coming up to this next game, we want to put ourselves in a position where we’re up in the game and looking after the game more. It’s a tough league, its competitive and it's hard to get points.”
- Head Coach Seb Hines
