ORLANDO, Fla. (May 11, 2024) – The Orlando Pride (6-0-3, 21 points) set a new team record with its sixth-straight win in 1-0 decision over Bay FC (2-7-0, 6 points) on Saturday night at INTER&Co Stadium. The six-game winning streak is the longest regular-season winning streak in the NWSL since 2019, while becoming the first team to hold the expansion side goal less for the first time this season.

Forward Adriana scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after Barbra Banda drew a foul inside the box. The goal served as Adriana’s first penalty kick as a member of the Pride and was the first converted penalty of the season against Bay FC.

Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse made two saves on her way to recording her fourth clean sheet on the season, the most in the NWSL.

The Pride remained unbeaten through their first nine games to start the season, the longest streak in team history to start a season. It also marked the second-longest unbeaten streak since Orlando went 10 games without a loss that stretched across the 2017 season and into 2018.

Scoring Summary:

32’ Adriana (Penalty Kick) – ORL 1, BAY 0
The Pride took the early lead on forward Adriana’s first penalty kick as a member of the Pride in the 32nd minute. After Orlando built up an attack in the Bay FC defensive zone, Barbra Banda drew a foul inside the box that resulted in a spot kick. Adriana stepped up to take the ensuing penalty and netted a low shot past the Bay FC goalkeeper for her first goal of the season.

Head Coach Seb Hines:

“I think when you say defense you’re talking about the whole team because the work that everyone is doing to keep the clean sheet is unbelievable. It starts from the front and having the structure and the organization from the front and reading those triggers. Obviously, you talk about midfield, the backline, and the goalkeeper, it’s a real togetherness to keep the ball out of the net. Bay FC caused a lot of problems in the second half, they started to add more numbers to their attack. I thought our defenders did a terrific job overall. Bay FC created a lot of scoring opportunities, but yeah, it’s a full team effort. It’s nice to come away with another 1-0 win and three points.”

Match Notes:

  • Adriana’s penalty kick served as her first goal of the year and her first penalty kick for the Pride. She now has seven goals scored while donning the Pride kit.
