#VoteCity All-Star Fan XI Spotlight | Ruan

In case you haven’t heard, Ruan is fast. Very fast.

Like, absurdly fast.

The MLS All-Star Game presented by Target, in the end, is about entertainment. I’m not sure there’s a single more entertaining event in a Major League Soccer game at this moment than Ruan torching some poor defender who’s just trying to go about his day. Look at what he did to Colorado’s Dillon Serna: 

Or NYCFC’s Alexander Callens:

While there’s no real way to know outside of getting the candidates together for a 100-meter dash, Ruan is very possibly the fastest player in the league. You can’t tell me you don’t want to see him running full speed ahead at Jose Gimenez.

Ruan’s speed has translated statistically as well. He ranks in the top ten in MLS in big chances created with six and is tied with Nani for the team lead in successful dribbles with 21. 


Most memorable moment

It has to be absolutely burning Kendall Waston and setting up Nani for Orlando’s game-breaking third goal against FC Cincinnati. Nani was more than happy to give Ruan all the credit:

UPDATE: August 8, 2020 - Major League Soccer unveiled the framework of a revised schedule for the remainder of the 2020 season, with the League’s 25th season continuing in the home markets of the 26 clubs beginning August 12. At this time, MLS has announced the initial phase of the revised schedule for U.S. clubs through September 14 and plans to announce the balance of the regular season schedule by early September. More details on schedules for the Canadian teams will be announced in the near future. Attendance at matches will be determined by MLS and club leadership in accordance with applicable state and local guidelines.
