ORLANDO, Fla. (December 19, 2017) – Orlando City SC will open its fourth Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign on Saturday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. ET hosting Eastern Conference foe D.C. United at Orlando City Stadium.
Orlando City’s season ticket base has been expanded beyond the 18,000 cap, following the successful opening of Orlando City Stadium in 2017. A limited number of season tickets are available for purchase by visiting www.OrlandoCitySC.com/tickets/season. Single game tickets will be available at a later date with priority access given to LionNation members.
The match on March 3rd will mark the fourth-consecutive season opener at home for the Lions. Orlando City hosted more than 60,000 fans at Camping World Stadium in 2015 and 2016 home openers, and sold out its new, 25,500-capacity soccer venue in downtown Orlando this year.
The match will also mark the eighth encounter between the sides, with a 4-3-0 record in favor of the Lions since joining MLS in 2015. Orlando City has won three of its four home matches against D.C. The Lions claimed victories in the two faceoffs this year, earning a 2-0 win on May 31 at Orlando City Stadium before a 2-1 victory on Sept. 9 at RFK Stadium.
MLS is coming off a 2017 season highlighted by the debut of two new clubs (Atlanta United and Minnesota United FC), two new stadiums (Orlando City Stadium and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta), an influx of talented young players, and records set for attendance, broadcast ratings and social media engagement.
During the 2018 MLS regular season, each club will play 34 games, including 17 home games and 17 away games. Teams will face each of their conference opponents (10 in the East, 11 in the West) twice during the season with one game at home and one game away. Western Conference teams will play one additional intra-conference game and Eastern Conference teams will play two. All teams will face each non-conference opponent once.
